The Pula depreciates 1.1% against the Rand

Good evening, the Pula has depreciated against the Rand by 1.1% and appreciated by 0.5% against the IMF Special Drawing Rights,

1-month period it lost 1.1% against the Rand, appreciated 1.5% against the Japanese yen, 1.1% against the Chinese renminbi, 0.8% against the British pound, 0.6% against the Euro, and 0.5% against the US dollar.

Over the year leading up to March 2023, the value of the Pula, the currency of Botswana, changed compared to other currencies. When we look at specific currencies within the SDR basket:

- The Pula lost value against the British pound, US dollar, and euro by 6.8 percent, 4.9 percent, and 4.3 percent respectively. This means you'd get fewer pounds, dollars, or euros for each Pula.

- But against the Japanese yen, the Pula gained value by 8.3 percent, meaning you'd get more yen for each Pula.

- And against the Chinese renminbi, it went up slightly by 0.4 percent, meaning you'd get a bit more renminbi for each Pula.[source: the Bank of Botswana.]
